Sales and Account Management Intern
Switchboard
Job Title: Sales Intern
Employment Type: Casual
Hours: 2-3 days per week
Hourly Rate: $30/hour + super (1 day = 7 paid hours)
Location: Sydney (hybrid) preferred
Start Date: Feb 2026 (ASAP)
About the Role
Switchboard is growing and we’re looking for a high-performing, motivated final or penultimate year student to join us as a Sales and Account Management Intern. This is a paid role.
You will be working part-time directly with our Business Development Manager, supporting whatever is highest priority across the business, largely focused on Sales and Account Management, with some BizOps tasks as well. This is a hands-on role in a small startup, so you will wear a lot of hats and learn quickly. You will work under a hands-on manager who will coach you, give you real responsibility, and help you learn fast.
The main focus areas are:
Account management
- Support customer check-ins and follow-ups
- Help keep accounts organised, track action items, and ensure customers feel supported
- Assist with light pipeline and opportunity tracking
Sales outreach
- Customer acquisition outreach
- Sales ops support (CRM hygiene, notes, sequences)
Marketing support
- Create simple Canva assets (one-pagers, product snapshots, customer updates)
- Help keep marketing collateral up to date and aligned with our brand
Ops support
- General ops problem solving and process improvement
Accounts receivable
- Assist with monthly invoicing follow-ups
- Track overdue accounts and follow up professionally
- Keep receivables organised and accurate
Monthly reporting
- Help prepare monthly reporting (MRR, collections, overdue summary, basic performance reporting)
- Maintain trackers and flag anomalies early
This will be a varied role, and it will be a lot of fun and a great learning opportunity.
About You
A final year or penultimate year student (any discipline considered). Previous intern experience, especially in a sales, customer service, or client-facing role is helpful but not mandatory.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Organised and detail-oriented (you catch things others miss)
- Proactive and a self-starter (you do not wait to be asked twice)
- Comfortable switching between tasks
- Happy to own some “boring but important” work
- Confident communicating clearly and professionally with customers
- Excited by startups and willing to get hands dirty
This is a great role for someone who wants real exposure across account management, marketing, finance ops, and sales ops, not just a narrow internship.
