Company Mission
Photon gives patients ownership of prescriptions. Our platform enables clinicians to send prescriptions to patients via text, which saves them time by allowing their patients to shop between pharmacies. The vision is to help consumers save money by increasing transparency.
Who We're Looking For
You are energized by building — figuring out how implementations should run here, then running them that way.
You’re hands-on by nature: you'll personally chase down an engineer for a fix, jump on a call with product to make a scoping decision on the spot, and track a dozen open threads across teams without losing the thread on any of them.
You've spent real time inside a health system or working closely with one — you understand how an EHR actually functions day to day, and you're genuinely fluent in pharmacy IT: how prescriptions move between systems, where PBMs and e-prescribing networks fit in, and what breaks when they don't talk to each other cleanly. You hold their own with health-system stakeholders and know how to earn trust with pharmacy operations, IT, and clinical teams.
Ambiguity doesn't faze you, but it's not where you want to live — your instinct, the moment you hit a mess, is to build the structure that fixes it: the checklist that didn't exist yet, the timeline that turns a dozen loose threads into a plan, the process that means the next implementation goes smoother than the last. You're motivated equally by a scrappy pilot and a marquee enterprise rollout, and you measure your own success by whether the customer is live and thriving.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the technical and operational delivery of go-live for health-system pilots and full rollouts, working closely with sales to ensure a seamless handoff from closed deal to live customer
- Marshal internal resources across engineering, product, and support to keep implementations moving
- Diagnose and resolve the technical integration blockers that stall go-lives — spanning Epic Willow, HL7v2 trigger interfaces, NCPDP formatting, and data flows between health system pharmacies, PBMs, and e-prescribing networks
- Lead change management within each customer organization — anticipating objections around benefit investigation, e-prior authorizations, patient financial assistance, and medication routing, and evangelizing Photon internally across analyst and operations teams
- Represent Photon credibly with health-system stakeholders (pharmacy operations, IT, clinical) and drive alignment on metrics that matter to them, escalating to Photon leadership for CPO/C-suite-level conversations as needed
- Partner with sales during late-stage deal cycles to ensure contracted scope, timeline, and promised ROI are actually deliverable from day one
- Build and own the post-go-live value realization framework that proves ROI to the customer and supports expansion conversations
- Weigh in on product and integration roadmap decisions where implementation experience should directly inform what Photon builds next
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in healthcare IT delivery, implementation, or professional services, with direct, hands-on experience running enterprise health-system implementations from contract through go-live
- Demonstrated experience personally driving cross-functional execution — coordinating engineering, product, and support resources to unblock a customer implementation
- Hands-on experience with Epic Willow or comparable EHR pharmacy modules, including familiarity with the constraints faced by health-system Willow and Bridges (interfaces) analysts
- Working fluency in HL7v2 interfaces, NCPDP standards (e.g., NCPDP NewRx), and e-prescribing networks such as Surescripts, along with PBM data flows
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder implementations in an enterprise health system environment, including navigating institutional inertia and competing internal priorities
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage startup environment without a fully built-out delivery org already in place
Preferred Qualifications
- Has personally built an implementation/delivery function from scratch, or run point on go-lives without a dedicated PM in place
- Track record engaging executive-level stakeholders (CPOs, VPs of Pharmacy, CMIOs, revenue cycle leadership) at health systems — not required to lead these relationships solo yet, but able to grow into it
- Experience running pilots in addition to full enterprise rollouts
- Background at an Epic-adjacent organization or direct former Epic experience
- Prior experience partnering directly with product/engineering to translate implementation learnings into roadmap decisions
Why Join Us
Photon is reimagining how prescriptions move through the healthcare system — making it simpler, faster, and more transparent for patients, providers, and pharmacies alike. You'll:
- Take on a role with meaningful ownership, shaping how an early-stage company builds its delivery function for enterprise health systems from the ground up
- Be the person health-system executives trust to get a complex, high-stakes rollout right — and see the direct results of that work in every pilot and go-live
- Have a direct line to Photon's product roadmap, where your read on what customers actually need shapes what gets built next
- Work on a problem almost everyone you know has experienced, and help fix a system that's broken in ways most people just accept
- Join a team that gives a shit — about the work, about each other, and about doing things the right way. High trust, high standards, and people who actually like spending time together
