Headway’s mission is a big one - to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to take insurance and scale their practice.

Headway was founded in 2019 – since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 30,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software. We’re a Series C company with over $225m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, and Health Care Service Corporation.

We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.

We’re looking for a passionate Director of Product to shape the future of the patient experience here at Headway.

The patient experience is at the crux of our mission here at Headway to increase affordable access. As the product leader at the helm of the patient charter, you will be responsible for not only setting the vision and strategy to ensure patients are quickly connected to the right quality provider for them but also defining how we move beyond the initial match to be a partner for patients throughout their mental health journey. If you aspire to build innovative product experiences in uncharted territory to help patients receive quality mental healthcare, this is the role for you.

What you’ll do at Headway:

  • Craft delightful, data-driven product experiences to ensure our patients get high-quality care quickly
  • Develop a vision and strategy for how we engage and support patients throughout their mental health journey
  • Work closely with design, engineering, data, and other cross-functional partners to learn and ship quickly
  • Deeply understand and embody the voice of our patients while staying close to your team of PMs to quickly build and iterate on products for the patient journey

You’ll be great for this role if you:

  • Have 0 -> 1 product experience: You have 7+ years of experience building net new consumer products and 2+ years of experience managing people (B2B2C product experience a plus)
  • Thrive in ambiguity: You love tackling ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment with an optimistic and energizing attitude
  • Empathetic: You possess deep user empathy, have strong intuition on how they think, and love delighting them
  • Experimental: You’re innately curious and eager to quickly test and learn how users will respond to new experiences
  • Appreciate quality: You have an exceptionally high bar for building incredible experiences
  • Results driven: You care deeply about creating impact and driving results for Headway’s mission
