Frontend Engineer

Consumer facing web apps have some of the hardest problems to solve on the frontend. Users using productivity apps have a very low tolerance for jitters and lag.
We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer who is product-minded, excels at their craft and super passionate about building performant frontend infrastructure and delightful user experiences. You'll be working directly with the founders 👋🏼 to build out an early version of Zivy and take it to public launch and beyond.
As the founding frontend engineer, you would be the primary owner for all Frontend.

What you'll be doing

Own the Frontend Infrastructure end to end.
Work closely with Backend, Design and Product to hash out the apps across platforms.
Collaborate with the designers to create scalable UI & UX libraries.
Take the products from 0 to 1. Post that, setup and scale the architecture to power a large volume of requests and data.
Make the applications buttery smooth without any lags and jitters.
Because we're an early stage startup, you'll have tons of opportunities to be involved in all aspects of the product development process, from ideation to launch.

What we're looking for ideally

4+ years of solid experience building and shipping production level web applications.
Fluency with React, Next.js, Tailwind, Redux, etc. Master at HTML + CSS.
Experience building highly interactive and responsive web applications.
Attention to design and detail. You should be able to critique and modify existing designs.
Deep understanding of UI and UX.
While you might focus on frontend development, you are also comfortable working across the stack if needed.
Focus on performance with the ability to profile and identify bottlenecks.
Creative problem solving!

Good to have / Bonus

Built Browser Extensions and/or Electron apps.
Experience in building consumer apps especially in the productivity space or messaging.
A couple of side projects, however small, that you built on your own time without anyone asking you to or not as part of a job.

Hiring process

Our hiring process is pretty straightforward.
If shortlisted, one of the founders will have an exploratory call with you where we’ll talk more about Zivy, the team, the role, etc. Post that, we’d love to get to know more about you, your past work experience and, a bit of chit-chat.
Post the exploratory call, if we mutually agree that we could be a good fit, we’ll have 2 rounds of technical interviews - an hour each
Coding: Primary evaluation would be on how quick and comfortable you are with hands-on coding. Secondary evaluation on code design and quality. Questions will be mostly real life based problems. No DSA :)
Design: In this round we will discuss JS fundamentals, engineering practices and deep dive into your past work.
If things go well, the other founder would have a final round — this is just for a vibe check, culture fit :)
We will ensure the entire process is completed within 2 weeks, generally within a week. In case things don’t work out, please be sure it’s not a reflection of you but just not the right match at this point of time. We will always try and get back with feedback within a day or two of each round.
