Job Summary: We’re looking for a Head of Business Development who’s more operator than talker — someone who turns ambiguity into systems, strategy into action, and complex problems into traction. You’ll work directly with the co-founders to craft and execute go-to-market strategies, build relationships on and off base, and scale our presence in military communities across the country.
This isn’t a traditional sales role. You’ll wear many hats: experimenter, deal-closer, community-builder, and strategic operator. You’ll be expected to move fast, think clearly, and execute ruthlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
Growth & Partnerships:
- Launch and iterate user acquisition experiments across organic and paid channels
- Architect and lead VetraFi’s GTM and partnership strategy— then iterate fast.
- Build and grow strategic relationships across the military and fintech ecosystems (recruiters, base contacts, financial institutions, BIN sponsors, etc.).
- Own access and expansion efforts on military bases: boots-on-ground engagement, tabling, command-level partnerships.
- Launch and iterate pilot programs that test acquisition channels and user growth hypotheses.
- Represent VetraFi at industry events, military expos, and partner meetings.
- Provide intelligence on market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activity.
- Proactively identify and pursue unconventional growth levers.
Marketing & Content:
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns across channels (email, social, events, etc.)
- Manage and grow our social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
- Work with designers and creators to launch new content and creative
- Write and edit copy for blog posts, newsletters, and product launches
Ops & Projects:
- Operationalize internal workflows (e.g. onboarding, CRM, user support)
- Handle one-off special projects with the co-founders (e.g. fundraising, user research, internal tools)
- Monitor analytics, user feedback, and marketing performance to drive decisions
- Fill gaps across departments — product, ops, support, marketing — wherever help is needed
Qualifications:
- A builder, not just a thinker — you get excited by messy zero-to-one challenges.
- Firsthand knowledge of the military — either through service, family, or embedded work.
- A proven business development or GTM operator (preferably in fintech, govtech, or a mission-driven industry).
- Comfortable working independently in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments.
- Skilled at turning rough ideas into structured processes — and executing them.
- Confident and assertive: you defend good ideas with data and conviction.
- Comfortable experimenting, taking risks, and failing fast.
- Excellent communicator and relationship-builder across all levels — from junior recruits to partner execs.
- Highly organized, proficient in spreadsheets, CRM tools, and GTM workflows.
- Willing to travel and get your hands dirty in the field.

Compensation:
- Salary range: $120,000 - $180,000
- Equity: 0.25% - 2%
- Other: Health, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance
