About Season

Season is a food-as-medicine platform that enables people with chronic conditions to eat well and live well. Eligible patients who enroll with Season receive access to a registered dietitian and a clinical program, thousands of recipes tailored to their individual needs, integrated grocery delivery, affordable prepared meals, and a monthly food credit from their health plan. Season’s platform makes it possible to deliver food-as-medicine at massive scale to millions of people with chronic, diet-related disease, improving their quality of life and delivering a positive ROI for health plans.

We are a remote-first startup with hubs in Austin, Denver and NYC. Season is a Series-A stage business backed by Andreessen Horowitz, LRV Health, 8VC, Bain Capital, Healthy.VC and Grand Central Tech among others. Season recruits, employs, compensates, and promotes regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender identity, disability, age, veteran status and other protected status as required by applicable law and as a matter of our company ethics.

About The Role

Season is searching for a Medical Director of Clinical Product, who will advance and evangelize Season’s nutrition-based intervention.

You will report to our Chief Product Officer and have the opportunity to join a mission-driven, innovative health tech organization on the ground floor, applying your expertise in a strategic, value-add manner.

Because Season is still an early-stage startup, this role requires an early-stage startup mindset.  The right candidate thrives on ambiguity, uncertainty, and rapid change.  They have a preternatural sense of ownership.  They roll up their sleeves, do whatever it takes to get a project over the line, and earn trust in the trenches.  They wake up every day energized by the unique challenges of startup life, knowing they wouldn’t have their job be any other way.

Salary Range: $215,000-$260,000

What You Will Do

  • Work with Clinical and Product leadership to design Season’s targeted interventions for chronic disease states, with a focus on designing and building programs that generate meaningful ROI for health plans, and clinical outcomes for patients. Considerations include:

    • Which disease states ought Season prioritize based on health plan cost and prioritization

    • Clinical program design including optimal numbers of visits, professional staff specialities, licensing, and accreditation required, medication-based interventions, remote patient monitoring needs, labs requirements, etc

    • In collaboration with Product, support behavioral economic design around food credits and benefits to drive increased engagement and improved outcomes

    • Define the metrics and measure of program success, the means of capturing these data, and monitoring and reporting on the performance of the program for internal and external stakeholders

  • Create clear documentation on expected outcomes and value created for health plans for each of these programs, grounded first in peer reviewed literature, and later in Season’s own impact

  • Support design of targeted research projects to affirm Season’s value proposition

  • Join occasional, high priority business development calls, particularly where clinicians are involved from the other party’s side to defend our clinical model and perspective

  • Work with Clinical leadership to build and maintain processes that measure and impact clinician performance across our employed provider group, towards impacting the above outcomes

  • Such other duties and responsibilities as are attendant to the role as the organization grows and evolves.

Success in the Role

This person is successful/we’re successful if:

  • Our patients have improved outcomes against our current programs’ output

  • We’ve fostered a tighter culture and collaboration between Clinical and Product in our organization, recognizing our enterprise product, in many ways, is the outcomes we generate for patients and health plans

  • We have much clearer internal alignment around product design and program structure by disease state and are executing on building these programs

    • We have a crystal clear set of clinical metrics and goals we are working towards that speak to health plan value.

    • We are measuring these outcomes in externally credible ways (e.g. via claims data vs surveys).

  • Externally, we are seeing faster traction and higher levels of engagement in our business development discussions with health plan executives.
