We’re seeking a Chief Science & Innovation Officer (CSIO) who is eager to apply rigorous scientific principles to “outside the box” health tech thinking to lead the company’s long-term strategic scientific vision and drive innovation, trusted health evidence, client value, and meaningful real-world health impact. Company: Radicle Science (Public Benefit Corporation)Location: Remote (U.S. required) with travel for key events (up to 50%)Reports to: COOType: Full-time ROLE OVERVIEWNOTE: This is NOT your typical science leadership role….this is Radicle Science and “in the box” thinkers need not apply!The CSIO will be responsible for ensuring integration across, and evolution of, our protocol design, outcome measures, trial execution, analysis, and reporting.The CSIO will also be a key partner in expanding Radicle’s platform to serve innovation, formulation, small batch manufacturing, and IP goals for Radicle Science clients.To ensure our scientific strategy is aligned throughout our organization, the CSIO will collaborate with our technology, data, marketing, sales, and customer success teams.This leader will also serve as a visible spokesperson for Radicle Science, helping build trust with clients, investors, partners, and the broader health ecosystem.This is a rare opportunity for a senior scientific leader to move beyond traditional research or product development silos and help build the scientific innovation backbone that transforms how wellness solutions are developed, validated, protected, and scaled. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESScientific Strategy- Ensure integration across, and evolution of, our protocol design, outcome measures, trial execution, analysis, and interpretation- Coordinate with our internal and external Principal Investigators, as well as our academic collaborators- Ensure our evidence generation meets the highest standards of rigor while pragmatically serving client goals, consumer needs, and regulatory expectations Leadership & Cross-Functional CollaborationThis role provides strategic executive leadership to two established senior leaders, each of whom will continue to lead their teams and each of whom will continue to be responsible for day-to-day activities:1. SVP of Scientific Affairs who oversees client-facing sales support, protocol design, client report generation, peer-reviewed publications, external scientific communication, and industry-facing thought leadership.2. VP of Research Operations who oversees trial execution, compliance, and operational excellence- Cross-functional collaboration with our technology, data, marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure our scientific strategy is aligned throughout the company Innovation Support- Provide clients with scientific guidance on formulation strategy & feasibility- Support clients by collaborating with formulators and contract manufacturers to prepare their products for trial- Support clients with their IP/patent strategy related to their formulas and trial data Spokesperson- Serve (along with our Scientific Affairs team) as a Radicle scientific representative with industry, investors, partners, and the broader health ecosystem REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- PhD or equivalent in a life science field- 10+ years experience conducting or sponsoring clinical trials on non-prescription/non-pharmaceutical health interventions- 10+ years experience working for food, beverage, or supplement companies- 5+ years experience working with formulators and contract manufacturers- Strong understanding of biostatistics- Experience with intellectual property and patent strategy- Experience serving as Principal Investigator on clinical trials- Experience authoring peer-reviewed publications- Experience managing senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams- U.S based, willing to travel ~8x/year travel for team gatherings, conferences, and partner meetings- Native, or near-native/mastery proficiency in English REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES- Strategic, innovative thinker who is also able to rapidly execute- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Strong, confident public speaker comfortable representing the company externally- Experienced in client-facing roles- Able to translate science for non-technical audiences- Comfortable balancing scientific considerations with business & consumer realities- Low-ego, collaborative, adaptable, decisive- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company environment- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with non-scientific teams BONUS POINTS- High proficiency with AI tools- Experience securing grants from government agencies and foundations.- Based in Southern California HOW TO APPLYPlease email rebel@radiclescience.com with your resume.
