Currently, there are 1M doctors for the 330M people in the U.S., but only 120K veterinarians for the 200M cats and dogs in the country. The COVID-19 pandemic amplified the problems caused by the labor shortage, as pet ownership increased dramatically. As a result, it can take weeks to book in-person vet appointments in some cities, urgent care centers are overwhelmed by demand, and the cost of care has risen for pet owners - it’s clear something has to change.

At Otis, we're working with vets and vet techs to create a new model of care delivery that both 1) alleviates the burden on the entire pet health ecosystem and 2) is financially sustainable.
