Boost exists to enable micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive in Africa’s emerging digital economy. In Africa, there are over 100 million MSMEs that contribute to 70% of the continent’s employment. The vast majority of them are informal, unbanked, and trade in cash. The MSME sector is growing and will absorb the bulk of Africa’s young job seekers over the coming years. The growth of mobile phones and mobile money across Africa has spawned a wave of consumer digital financial services, and a second wave is now needed to serve MSMEs and help them digitize and grow. Boost is a purpose-driven and customer-centric startup tackling this problem. We give MSME entrepreneurs the power to grow by enabling them to order and receive stock, access financial services, and manage their businesses - all digitally from their mobile phones! To adapt to the needs of each market, Boost incubates local franchises that are owned and managed by founding teams and partners. Boost franchises are enabled by a centralized platform team that provides capital, technology, brand, and strategic business support. We are already established and growing in Ghana, South Africa, and Nigeria with a team of founders and advisors who have decades of combined entrepreneurial and business building experience in Africa and beyond.
